Most patients choose to join our in-house dental plan called Practice Plan. It encourages regular attendance, enables us to spot problems early and helps maintain healthy teeth and gums for life. The Plan allows patients to spread the cost of their treatment over a year and provides a fantastic programme of preventative care that can be of better value than the conventional fee per item treatment. NHS

Please note we only accept new children on the NHS.

We do not accept new adult patients on the NHS.

Under the NHS you are only entitled to have clinically necessary treatment to keep your mouth healthy and pain free. Patients are no longer registered with an NHS dentist. Although many still use the term ‘registration’, it actually no longer exists for NHS dentistry as it was removed in 2006 when the NHS dental contract was changed. Therefore, just because you have been offered an NHS appointment in the past it does not mean that you have guaranteed access to an NHS appointment in the future.

At Sharrow Vale Dental Care we have a small number of patients who are seen on an NHS basis. These patients attend the practice regularly for routine examinations and treatment as clinically necessary. Patients are given a suitable recall interval depending on their risk factors for dental problems. This means it may not always be possible to book appointments with family members if your recall intervals are different. We book all future appointments in advance and it is important that you attend this appointment even if you are not experiencing any problems. You are likely to receive a courtesy reminder via email or SMS. It is your responsibility to contact us and update your personal records if you change address, telephone number or email.

Due to the large volume of patients wishing to receive NHS dental care we will no longer see patients for an NHS examination who have not attended for two or more years.

The NHS will not provide cosmetic treatments such as dental implants, sedation or teeth whitening. However you can choose to have these treatments on a private basis but still remain an NHS patient.

For all treatment options you will be given an estimate and a written treatment plan which clearly identifies which treatment is to be provided on an NHS basis and on a private basis.

If you have an appointment, please make sure you don’t forget and please arrive on time. If you need to rearrange please give at least 24 hours notice.

Please be aware that after one missed appointment, late attendance or short notice cancellation, you will be offered another appointment. If you fail to attend a second appointment, are late or short notice cancel Sharrow Vale Dental care will no longer offer you appointments under the NHS.

We cannot keep NHS courses of treatment open indefinitely. If you do not book in for any recommended treatment, we will contact you once to remind you that you have outstanding treatment. If you do not contact us your course of treatment will be closed. This will mean that you will need to pay again for a new examination and a new course of treatment.
