At Sharrow Vale Dental Care we offer a number of treatments that can help to improve the appearance of your skin. There are two main categories of injectable agents in facial rejuvenation: Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers. The end result is an improved, fresher and more rested looking appearance that leaves you feeling happy and confident.
There are two types of wrinkles on the face. The first are those that come on, or are made worse, by movements such as raising your eyebrows, smoking or frowning – dynamic wrinkles. Secondly there are those present all the time, even when relaxed – static wrinkles.
Treatment of Static Wrinkles: Dermal fillers
Static Wrinkles are caused by the constant movement and folding of the skin, until it forms a ‘worn out’ line, or crease. These wrinkles are, in essence, formed by a loss of tissue in the skin and the fat immediately beneath it. The treatment for this is therefore to replace the volume, using filler Injections.
What is used to fill the creases?
The most popular filler is based upon a molecule called Hyaluronic Acid. This is a naturally occurring substance within the body that diminishes with age and is injected under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds to create a smoother contour.
Where can it be used?
- Naso-labial folds running from nose to mouth
- Marionette lines – lines from the corners of the mouth to the chin
- Smokers lines on upper lips
- Frown lines
- Glabellar lines between the eyebrows
- Plumping lips – but still looking natural
- Increasing contours and lip outlines
- Laughter lines / crows feet around eyes
What is involved?
Prior to treatment, your face will be cleaned with an antiseptic. If patients wish, a local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the treatment area to minimize any discomfort. Using a fine needle, we will then inject a small amount of dermal filler into pre-selected treatment areas. Once injected the filler works by mimicking the depleted supply of Hyaluronic Acid in your body and fills the lines and wrinkles. The area is gently massaged to give a smooth and natural appearance.
How long will the results last?
Results are immediately visible and the anti-ageing benefits are long lasting but not permanent, as after the injection, it is slowly broken down by the body. Although its effect varies from patient to patient it generally lasts between 6 and 18 months. Future treatments will be necessary to maintain results of Dermal Fillers.
Dermal fillers start at £225 per syringe. For more information please call the surgery to arrange a free initial consultation.
